Parquet Courts Live at Third Man Records

It’s been a little while since we’ve hosted a live show / recording here in the Third Man Blue Room (Jack White’s World’s Fastest Record notwithstanding), which is why we’re really excited to present one of our favorite bands out there working the punk rock n roll circuit, Parquet Courts.

With their new killer album Sunbathing Animal recently out on What’s Your Rupture, they’re now out on the road for a short eternity and have been good enough to agree to bless the Third Man stage with their unique blend of cerebral, groove heavy, bombastic songwriting and future-vision. These guys are fast and sharp and what’s more, their 30th century blues fit nicely into the Third Man worldview. We couldn’t be happier to have them here to record a live album.

Per usual, there will be pre-sales for limited edition black n blue vinyl of the Parquet Courts live show available in the Third Man shop immediately following the performance.

Parquet Courts live at Third Man with Quailbones
Thursday June 5th

athinkingcat, Yeah little Lucky grew up on General Hospital and now he’s living and working in Nashville. After I went and saw his band I started to watch the tv show Nashville. I’m hooked on watching it now and was glad that the series has been renewed for a 3rd year. I’m really glad I started watching the show since a lot of the musician/singer/songwriters I have followed in Nashville get their songs performed in the shows and some of them have worked on the show. It’s funny to see those musician/singer/songwriters in the backup up bands for the actors and actresses playing musician/singer/songwriters. T-Bone Burnette’s wife writes the storylines for the show (writer of movie Thelma and Louise) from her experiences from being around the real music/business industry. Watching the show has been good therapy for me since, even though I have met a lot of good music folks in Nashville, I have encountered some really nasty ones too and I am reassured it is not me that has a problem. The music business industry is more cut throat than it is a bunch of niceties among people, that is for sure! T-Bone Burnette was the music director for the first year and he handed the job over to Buddy Miller who I have seen preforming around Nashville. At Jack White’s RSD 2014 show Jack mentioned that Fats Kaplan, while preforming in his band, is also collaborating with Buddy Miller. The circle of music just keeps going round and round and round. If you want to continue to follow Jonathan Jackson just do a www search for JJ + Enation…lots of info out there!

The evening before this show went on sale I bought a ticket for another midweek show in Nashville next week. I’ll have to miss this one but it is great that Blue Room shows are coming back. Last summer I discovered the Jonathan Jackson and Enation band. Jonathan Jackson is the actor that plays Avery Barkley on the Nashville tv series on ABC. A friend told me about JJ being in a band so I went to check out JJ’s band at the 3rd & Linsdley Bar & Grill last June. I was impressed. I’ve told the band about Third Man Records and how you all record “live” shows in the Blue Room. Jonathan’s brother Richard is the drummer in the band and I’ve informed him that the 3 head honchos at TMR are drummers too and it might be easy for ya all to relate. Jonathan has lived in Nashville since the start of the Nashville tv show and Richard moved to Nashville from Battle Ground, Washington earlier this year. So 2/3rds of the band calls Nashville home now. I would love to see the JJ + Enation band, considered alternative rock, play a show in the Blue Room. I also discovered another band in Nashville called Stone Senate. The SS band has more of a southern rock sound. It would be nice to see a little more diversity of music styles in the Blue Room.
