October 2012 was a good time for Third Man Records... we expanded our headquarters, we got our hands on the 1953 Scully Lathe from King Records that we've all come to know and love, and we decided the direct-to-acetate upgrade to our live records deserved an upgrade to the artwork that accompanies them as well. Hence, the live record picture sleeve was conceived! Well, it's high time we start to give the shiny and new treatment to some of our shiny and not-so-new records, because they deserve it.
So, for $1 a piece, you can now purchase new-and-improved sleeves for the records in your collection from our Live 12" series. The first wave of covers is available to purchase now (HERE!), with the remaining to follow in the coming months. Give your live records a little love... with all the enjoyment they've provided you, they deserve it.
Photos are taken from a range of Third Man staff photographers and Third Man friends, including Jo McCaughey and Jamie Goodsell. The Conan O'Brien shot is especially magnetic. Don't miss it, Vault members!
And, for those of you who don't have a record shelf full of Live at Third Man Records LP's, now when you purchase from the catalog, your records will come with the new photo covers that we have available. Right now, those titles are... Neil Hamburger, Ted Leo, Cold War Kids, The 5.6.7.8's, Jacuzzi Boys, Jeff the Brotherhood, Tyvek, Jenny & Johnny, Nobunny, Pujol, The Racontwoers, Conan O'Brien, Dex Romweber Duo, Benjamin Booker, Parquet Courts, Alloy Orchestra, Jack Johnson, Mudhoney, Divine Fits, Rory Scovel, Melvins, The Shins, The Kills, and Seasick Steve. Phew!
Love the new covers though!!!
Dang I was going to buy a sleeve for my dad’s Conan O’brien but shipping is $5.85!!!
This is great! I’ll buy one cover and will probably end up buying a couple of live releases that I don’t have already.
Got ’em already! Sweet!
Very Cool, I hope you make one for the Reggie Watts one, it’s such a fantastic record!!!
Way to go you bunch of smarties…. I can see 3 that i must have and now i can see a couple live releases that i have yet to get… So… Do you buy the black cover items and the feature cover at the same time or are the new releases merched with the feature cover directly??? Either way… Tastey!
Thank you, TMR—I like these because they’re the sort of extra detail it would never have occurred to me to ask for. :-)
