My record of the week is Colour Green by Sibylle Baier. I discovered her when I was watching the 1974 Wim Wenders film Alice in the Cities (shout out to the Criterion App). She has a bit part playing on a ferry. Although she never released an album, her son made this record from the demos that she recorded from ‘70 to ‘73. It was released in 2006.

Oh yeah, that’s a “new” classic. Dove in deep on some of that retro ethereal folk vibe when they were repressing things like Vashti Bunyan and mining out treasures like this. There was another stellar LP that came out around that same time, same vibe, but I’m blanking on it now….
I picked up a CD copy a few months ago. It’s beautiful!!! Wish I had a 1st press vinyl, it’s a bit pricey. I heard about it in a podcast with J Mascis and Marc Maron. I believe he almost parted with the copy and someone told him not to do that, lol!!!
a song of hers is in a movie filmed here in Chicago called Drinking Buddies. loved the song and looked her up.
