SINGER-SONGWRITER-MUSICIAN SETS TO WORK ON NEXT SOLO ALBUM WITH JACK WHITE PRODUCING
SET TO APPEAR WITH WHITE ON A PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION THIS SATURDAY
TEAMED WITH LANGHORNE SLIM FOR THIRD MAN & LUCK REUNION ‘LUCK MANSION SESSIONS’
We are so pleased to announce Lillie Mae Rische as the latest member of our growing roster. Lillie Mae is well-beloved by Third Man fans, who will be pleased to hear that she currently at work recording her much anticipated solo album with Jack White producing.
“Lillie Mae has been performing on stage since she was 3 years old,” said White. “She is an incredible writer who can play an array of instruments and has paid her dues from the honky-tonks on Broadway to stages around the world. She is a beloved artist in Nashville, and I think it is safe to say that she is one in a billion. You wont find anyone else quite like this woman no matter how long you live.”
“I'm proud to have become a part of the Third Man family, where there is no shortage of hard work and dedication to creating and making available the music we love so,” Rische said. “I'm forever thankful to Jack for believing in me and giving me a chance and all the freedom I've needed to make this album.”
The album follows Rische’s debut single, “Nobody’s” b/w “The Same Eyes,” released in 2014 as part of Third Man’s ongoing Blue Series. Discovered by the legendary Cowboy Jack Clement when playing with her family band The Rische’s (formerly Jypsi), comprised of sisters Amber-Dawn, Scarlett, and Grace, and brother Frank, the country outfit can often still be heard at the historic Layla’s Bluegrass Inn in Nashville. Rische has also spent considerable time as a member of White’s crack touring and recording combo, playing fiddle and mandolin while also lending vocals to such tracks as “Temporary Ground,” from 2014’s LAZARETTO. She will once again join White on fiddle and backing vocals for a special acoustic performance on A Prairie Home Companion with Chris Thile this Saturday, October 15th, along with Dominic Davis and Fats Kaplin. The show will be broadcast live around the world from the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, MN at 5pm CT via www.prairiehome.org.
Rische also recently partnered with Langhorne Slim to record two songs as part of Third Man & Luck Reunion’s Luck Mansion Sessions during AmericanaFest in Nashville this past September. The songs will be released on 7-inch vinyl with an accompanying video in early 2017. Watch a sneak peek video of the sessions below...
I am so happy and excited to hear more Lillie Mae. She has such and exquisite sense and tone. She can both lead a song and fit hand-in-glove with a band
WOW! (that’s all i got)
THIS PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION WITH HER IS SO WONDERFUL!!!
Love Lillie Mae!
Excellent news! Looking for to Lillie Mae’s LP!
Wooo Hooo! Can’t wait for the pre-order, surprise shows, and how about the seed of a vault package around her solo work, her role in the Lazzeretti band, and her role in the Peacocks. Think of what the TMR Vault team might do with this if my muddled, simpleton brain stumbled right upon it.
Awesome! And I can’t wait to hear the collaboration between her and Langhorne Slim!
ahhhh… for those of you who did not find the memo at TMR.com News about the Luck Mansion proceedings…. let me apologize for doubled posts and deviver you this post haste sans STL Ben chastisement for “dominating a thread” when I am merely unifying information sources ……. the memo reads like this………………………………………………………. Over the week of September 19-24, while AmericanaFest flooded every corner Nashville, Luck Reunion and yours truly holed up in an East Nashville mansion – bringing together Americana’s finest for inspired collaborations. Here is a glimpse of what happened at the Luck Mansion. …………….
For five days, artists set up in the parlor room of the pop-up “Luck Mansion” to perform for audiences of no more than 15 covering classics — from Guy Clark to Concrete Blonde — or, in some cases, a brand new song co-written by the pair on-the-spot. (Parker Millsap/Sarah Jarosz, John Paul White/Rodney Crowell, and Langhorne Slim/Lillie Mae Rische all churned out new original tunes!) ………………..
The tape was rolling for the entire week with Third Man engineers at the helm, capturing these stunning performances to take beyond the walls of the mansion to showcase the soulful collaborations that occurred. Luck Reunion and Third Man Records will be releasing ongoing video of the sessions as well as a collection of 45’s, rolling out one-by-one in early 2017. More on that in the coming weeks…
