Worth the price of admission for album cover art alone, this album is a genuinely rewarding listen. The brains behind it all is the lovely Dean Fertita, best known around these parts as guitarist in the Dead Weather, utility man in the Raconteurs and an all-around badass in Queens of The Stone Age.
"Wheels Within Wheels" has been in my head all week, "Needles" is certifiably electric, "No Wonder" is arguably my favorite of the bunch, a funky workout with squelchy guitar affectation coloring the mood for the better...none of this sounds like any of Dean's other bands (or even his previous work under the Hello = Fire moniker)...but it all sounds unmistakably "Dean." While that might seem deceptively obtuse, if you know you know.
I'm giving away a limited clear vinyl copy of this record. All you have to do is write SOMETHING in the comments. Anything. Seriously, the way comments used to fly around here has me pining for the past. Maybe I choose the comment at random (so you know, you could just write "butt" or something inane and have an equal chance at winning as if you were quoting Chaucer) or maybe I actually put thought into it.
I'm hearing rumbling around the office that the black light black velvet flocked posters are gone/sold out, but if I can scrounge one up, I'll be damn sure to include that here as part of the giveaway. I got a really nice surprise tonight when I opened the package and found the debut album from Tropical Gothclub LE on clear vinyl. Thank you so very much!!! I seldom win anything. The only problem…………….. my wife is taking credit for this. She said, had she not been so mean, I would not have won the record. All kidding aside, I love it and thanks so very much!!!
