Ugly Like Me
scum stats: no clue
Three copies of this album landed at Third Man. I have no idea when and only the vaguest idea as to why. But it's interesting, it's weird and there's seemingly no real evidence of it online. Ain't nothing wrong with that. These are all good things!
So as to my interest here, as I slowly dig through the pile of vinyl that's been sent here with the impetus of WRITING DOWN every vinyl album I listen to this year, I am here to share the love. You have through Thursday, February 15th to post a comment here and one of them will get a copy of this LP will be mailed directly to your door.
So only comment if you're open-minded, if you'll actually listen to this thing, especially considering I am telling you NOTHING beyond the fact that you should listen to it.
I love to find stuff I have never heard before. This is why there are very few “classics” in my collection. Why own the stuff everybody else in the world is collecting, you can hear it every time you drive in the car on the radio. I LOVE the obscure and/or the new stuff by the people who reach for the stars, even if it is their star and nobody else can even see it. This kind of imagination writes history. Sort of like when Elvis travelled to the Delta to learn from the blues men or when the African banjo was combined with mountain (Irish & Scottish) music to make bluegrass. I listen to all my music and cherish the thought of hearing this as well. I collect old, vintage records, mostly 78RPM, but I choose TMR as the only place I will purchase anything new. I love what Jack and Ben are doing, love the people they bring on board and really think that they are writing history while we cheer them on. Thank You!!!
Ok, I’ll listen to it.
Hmmmm. I do try to know a little about what I listen to before I listen to it, but that’s probably exactly why I should give this one a shot.
Hmmm. I typically try to do some research about what I listen to before I listen to it, but that’s probably exactly why I should give this one a shot.
My third eye is open!
I’ll listen to the hell out of it. Maybe.
