Dancin' b/w Swimmin'
scum stats: your guess is as good as mine...
So this one is a complete mystery. Based on the note included with it, the record was sent to Third Man last summer. The vinyl color is an attractive mild splatter effect, with a blue base highlighted with hints of yellow and green metallic. No email or website or contact info on the record or sleeve at all. Nothing etched into the runout grooves. Photos are credited as being taken at Niles Brewing Company, which points to a western Michigan locale. But otherwise...this record might as well be a ghost.
The quality of the vinyl...it's not bad, but it's a quality that feels both handmade AND weirdly mass-produced. As someone who's handled tens of thousands of these things over the past 25 years...it just sticks out as odd. I think it's numbered ("03") but that could also be an approximation of a catalog number.
All that to say...two-piece, mom and son, guitar and drums, rock and roll. I mean, if you dig the charming childishness of the early, raw White Stripes material, this will definitely scratch that itch. I'd assume somebody reading here knows the story behind it all. And if so, please tell more in the comments and point folks in a direction where they can listen and (ideally) buy some vinyl.
Until then, the mystery continues.
I feel like a failure, I can’t find a thing. I would like to hear it!!! I am waiting to see if anybody else is better than I at finding them.
