Funky Jive (Parts I & II)
This one is odd...as I am lead to believe, when the Numero Group dug up the tapes and ephemera to put together their Belize City Cult Cargo compilation, they came across the original pressing plates and unused labels of this record.
So...they took those parts, pressed up a batch of singles and here's a record pressed decades later that is, physically, exactly the same as the original.
Not sure how you could best differentiate these two from a discographical standpoint, but frankly, I don't really care.
All you need to know is that these two songs are solid, danceable, wah-wah funk grooves that are the perfect accompaniment to the sun-saturated day we're currently experiencing in Nashville. Spring has sprung and it feels delightful.

Your recommendation of The Soul Surfers was spot on, Ben, gonna trust your funk instincts again and give The Soul Creations a try.
