BLACKWELL'S RECORD OF THE WEEK + 4 GIVEAWAYS!
Las Raices

Like You Move b/w RIght Now

scum stats: gotta be limited, right?

Being made aware of a vinyl-focused, 7-inch releasing record label through a package blindly sent to the offices here in Nashville is a joy unparalleled. So All Welcome Records and the four different titles they sent here are solid...analog Latino doo-wop vibes, soft sweet soul, low rider legends...a West Coast tinged answer to other established players in the similar realm, labels like Daptone, Funk Night, Colemine and probably some more I'm forgetting.

Their idea was that sending multiple free copies would cause us to carry the titles in the Third Man storefront. But as we only carry Third Man titles in there, I figured the next best thing I could do is draw attention to the label and their wares by touting them here.

So check it, I'm gonna give away FOUR DIFFERENT RECORDS here based on the comments.

First off...listen to the tunes here (I can't find digital anywhere else, fwiw)

Then...just post a comment that you would like a free record. That's it. Simple. If you don't want a free record, don't post. If you want a specific one...feel free to request it. No guarantees, gonna try to pick 'em at random, but something clever or funny MIGHT get you extra noticed. But it also might not. Get your comment up before midnight, Thursday March 13th. Dig it.

Spinning my luck like a rare vinyl—hoping Ben Blackwell drops some Blue Shades my way!

A low rider legend…I’d love to bump this in my grocery-getting Dadmobile while munching on some goldfish…deuces.

A bird hit the window of my house when I was a kid and it was fluttering on the ground, sort of this death spin in the dirt. I felt so badly for it but didn’t know what to do. Trying to do the humane thing I put it in a paperbag and tied it to my moms station wagon muffler hoping to have it quietly fall asleep from carbon monoxide poisoning, my older brother started the car and the bag blew off sending the bird in bag tumbling down the street, i ended up having to drop a rock on it while my sister cried. I like records and would like one please.

Love the old school crackling at the beginning of the two Las Raices cuts! Would love a 45 from them if that’s one of the ones you got. That said, everything else i’ve listened to on the player. Sounds fantastic! Los Honeys has a great Lofi vibe too. Love the Oregon play on it. If those aren’t available, I’m sure either of the other two kick ass. thanks, Robert

I’ll take a full 7”

Oh man, those Los Raices tunes are tight! In all honesty though, id happily take anything. Label is dope.
