In light of Dave Marsh's passing last week, I feel a necessary valedictory in spinning the inflection point of his "Louie, Louie" tome. The point from which all things in my current universe seemingly evolve from.

(side note: HIGHLY recommend this book as it impressively traces the labyrinthine history of the song across time and place, and only slight demerits for not mentioning the Fugitives supposed vulgar version at the Hideout in suburban Detroit in 1965)

Without Rockin' Robin, we don't ever get the Kingsmen's version of the song, which begat the garage rock explosion (weirdly also Jimi Hendrix), direct antecedents the Stooges, punk rock, the fall of Communism, the 2000 US Presidential election, the Columbia Space Shuttle disaster and lots of other things we take for granted in this hellfire of humanity in 2026.
