BLACKWELL'S RECORD OF THE WEEK
Doo Rag

Two Tones To Tune

scum stats: nobody knows

Doo Rag was just a hair to early for me to catch or get into at the time. Met and played shows with Bob Log (of Doo Rag) in Dirtbombs days and took me a while to make the connection. According to those privileged enough to have caught them then, it was quite the shit.

This single is fairly novel, one-sided affair with two songs, each one exclusive to one channel. Shift your balance all the way to the left for "Left Song" and conversely all the way to the right for "Right Song" OR...if you're feeling nutty, slice it right down the middle to hear both at the same time. We tried this at TMR way back with the BP Fallon single, at the time I was told by our mastering engineer George Ingram (RIP) that you couldn't achieve a full separation among the channels, that there would still be a crossover bleed of 10% (20%?) so do with that info what you wish.

Can't find these tunes anywhere online, so $10 for the single at Grimey's felt like a veritable steal all things considered. Played together it sounds hot in an experimental Sonic Youth SYR release sort of way, which, for a two-piece blues band, is absolutely an accomplishment.
