BLACKWELL'S RECORD OF THE WEEK

Husqvarna Chainsaws

1959-2019 60th Anniversary

Yeah, it's just a recording of a bunch of Husqvarna chainsaws from the past 60 years. I thought I would be typing this line...

"Unsurprisingly, there's very little variation between the makes and models."

But turns out, after the strong similitude of tracks on side A, that Husqvarna 154 from 1983 sounds way more aggressive, a little more bass frequency to the mix. Just an all around angrier vibe. And the 2019 550 XP Mark II...sounds like a BEAST. Clearly, that thing has some power behind it that is non-existent in early models. And if I ever find myself in the market for buying a chainsaw, I know the first brand I'm looking for.

Somewhat unrelated, I'm just impressed that the Husqvarna team has access to a chainsaw they built and sold six decades ago.

Shockingly, this record was not commercially available. Apparently it was only distributed through giveaways and promotion. I searched for a good YEAR for this one. Some guy in Russia offered to get me one, but said that he'd have to drive 200 miles to get it for me. Wanted me to pay for the gas for the trip. I held off and eventually a copy showed up on Discogs for a price I wasn't too scared of paying.

And the other folks in the office are just DYING laughing that I'm listening to this. They apparently missed my review of the Alexander Hoglund fizzy water record from May '19. Oh well.
