Surfbort
“Bort to Death”
scum stats: the Discogs listing for this single is a shit show. seems like folks can’t discern the difference between “orange” and “gold” vinyl. There seems to be black, pink, green and raspberry colored pressings
I’m a little behind-the-curve on this one, but for solid punk rock that has the potential to offend…this is worth the price of admission. Songs are quick and to the point (and so often that’s ALL you need) and there’s a little intangible that causes this to rise above the rest.
I write this all while the Ramones first album is playing in the lounge just off my office and realizing that, in some weird equal juxtaposition, that 40+ years later and punk, for it to really connect and cut through the bullshit…needs to really, sincerely, be as close to the original intentions as possible.
What’s necessary to ACHIEVE and ACCOMPLISH that connection and straightforwardness may be different. But in general, it’s raw, attitude, zero artifice, and a penchant to push the envelope.
Everything I’ve heard from Surfbort has been stellar, this is just their first single and what was within immediate reach for me. I have a feeling the band still has some clearance to get considerable bigger. Here’s hoping.
I love them!
Oooh, this calls to a more primitive, edgy me who would have listened to this on repeat before going to school in the morning and been blaring it again as soon as I walked back through the door in the afternoon.
Great Band! Saw them recently and got some amazing photographs
I meant DonTazeMeBro
Don – it is the cover art!! … Duh
Short and precise songs, and enjoyable videos. A nice find.
I’ve discerned that sesquipedalian comments are completely irrelevant at this juncture. nev
I am unable to find the “little intangible” part
