Schizos
“Fuck Iggy Pop”
scum stats: uh….
I just love it when a buddy tells me I should check something out and the group just happens to have an easily obtainable 7-inch out.
This Schizos single is wildly wise with Urinals and Oblivians covers, but my money is on the track “Dog Meat”
Tasty in all the right ways, subby bass synth filling up acres of space. Attitude for days…why aren’t you already hip to this?
These are cheap cheap cheap on Discogs…live a little and get you some.
Disclaimer: I’ve no idea why the single is titled what it is, I can’t immediately discern any derogatory comments about Mr. Pop in the lyrics, but I do have a vague sense of respect for what I interpret as petulant iconoclasm.
Love the sparseness and the
tinny drums. Authentic punk rock right there?
I’m totally digging on those vocals. This is a sound that is best appreciated live, from right in front of the stage, where the lyrics are spat at the top of your head. Love this!
Perhaps the name of the album comes from the fact that none of the members of Schizos feel comfortable going shirtless.
It’s growing on me.
The entire single is on Bandcamp as well as other offerings; they have an “LP” coming out in a few weeks (no listing for vinyl, $10 for the digital pre-order). LOL at “Poundin’ the Pud”. Hey, these guys are out of Nashville, TN…Blue Room? Vocals – Josh Schizo, Synth – Kevin Schizo, Drums – Bill Schizo, Guitar – Joey Ramone (okay, I added that Joey Ramone BS as a joke…but the others are as they call themselves). I’m thinking these are not three brothers from the Schizo family, especially since the two pictured on Bandcamp don’t look anything alike, but I could be wrong. Anyway, liked it! Thanks!
