An Evening with Poets from The Contributor

An Evening with Poets from The Contributor

Third Man Books is proud and humbled to announce that we will be partnering with longtime Nashville institution The Contributor, a weekly newspaper published and distributed by our city’s homeless and formerly homeless population, to bring you a joint book release and event close to our hearts. In the last two weeks, we have spent a great deal of time with the poetry featured in paper. We have read through hundreds of submissions dating back seven years and compiled a selection that provides a window into the lives of The Contributor’s vendors and a valuable perspective on the city we all call home.

On October 3rd, Third Man Books will be hosting a poetry reading featuring poets who are both current and former vendors of the paper sharing their pieces from our new chapbook, Acknowledge: An Anthology of Selected Poems from The Contributor.

Maybe TMR could turn this into a winter coat and blanket drive or some other such sort of beneficially engaging exchange for the sake of lifting the burfen for those who struggle long and hard… Maybe encouraging the donation of blank journals and spiral bounds or packs of ink pens and carrying cases or gift cards to an office supply store for the particpants.. Fall is such a great time to kick of kindness campaigns for those who battle with the elements… This community is certainly worthy of such a thoughtful partnership and the fans seem willing …Come on TMR… You still got time!

I didn’t even know what this paper was, so many thanks for opening my eyes to that. I would also like to purchase the chapbook. Here’s hoping for a great turnout for a wonderful cause.

I work with homeless and traumatized children so this topic is near and dear to my heart. I too would like to know if there a possibility of purchasing/donating for this book and cause. Thanks in advance.

Would definitely like a chance to get a copy of the chapbook since I won’t be able to make it down for this.

I’d love to support this event a long ways from Nashville, do we have any options for that?

Oh, Third Man, this is wonderful. Homeless newspapers are one of the greatest ideas ever, every single city should start one if they can, and to see you all supporting Nashville’s in this way is beautiful. I know from talking to vendors of DC’s version, Street Sense, that the people who write poetry, prose, and editorials for these papers are intensely proud of their work. Will those of us outside the city be able to purchase the chapbook as well?

Truly a heartfelt journey here… Wonderful is the word and it makes me smile . . .
