Today, Third Man Records releases I Like It Here, a new, four song EP from LA garage rock quartet The Paranoyds. Recorded by Joo Joo Ashworth (Automatic, SASAMI) at Studio 22 in Los Angeles, I Like It Here is an ode to the band’s hometown of Los Angeles and the tension between breathtaking beauty and unbearable difficulty with quotidian life there.

The EP is out now digitally on all streaming platforms and on limited 7-inch vinyl ahead of the band’s upcoming shows in Los Angeles and New York. The 7-inch will be available at the merch table at any Paranoyds shows, at a limited quantity on Third Man’s Vault member-exclusive store, and on the band’s Bandcamp. This release is a follow up to their smashing sophomore album “Talk Talk Talk” released last year which resulted in their first headlining tour and support shows with Jack White.

The band gives a breakdown of the EP here:

“I Like It Here: The house is cute and calm from the outside but inside is a wild mix of four very different rooms. One is dark, the other is romantic—there’s the cheery room and then there’s the chaotic room right across the hallway.

Rita Lynn started off as a stoned jam in our rehearsal space. I’m JK was conceived at a house party. Destructive Banter spilled out during a hot summer day on the couch after a toxic hangout. Glass began as a hypnotically repetitive bass line worked out during countless sound checks across a US + UK tour.

Let’s party.”

The Paranoyds have the kind of connection people only dream of: as non-biological sisters who have known each other longer than they haven't and speak a language that no one else can understand.

With a bond that began in preschool, Laila Hashemi (keys/vocals) and Lexi Funston (guitar/vocals) were always inseparable, so when they met  Staz Lindes (bass/vocals) in ninth grade, it felt like they had known her all along. After all, they were a “package deal.” In high school, they began making music together in a friend’s laundry room and their relationship just blossomed from there. When it came time to add in a drummer, David Ruiz, who joined the band in 2015, fit in like he had been there all along. It's that special bond that has solidified their relationship as bandmates who connect seamlessly to one another’s energy on stage—and best friends. And it's the one thing that has remained a constant throughout the past few years.

“The record takes their garage rock roots and feeds them through the nostalgic fuzz-laden channels of a 1950s science fiction film, and the result is a cosmic step forward for the band.” - Clash

"This maturity, in addition to piquant songwriting–that never bores–and slick audio production, makes Talk Talk Talk the group’s most substantial, most concentrated effort to date." - PopMatters
