Those of you who have already pre-ordered and received our latest Blue Series release from Frank Fairfield have no doubt figured that Fairfield is a man born out of time with a haunting warble in his voice and countless stories to tell. We too are mesmerized by the man, equal parts singer, songwriter (though he doesn’t care to admit it), fiddle/guitar/banjo player, and collector (see his two curated compilations on Tompkins Square pulled from his library of rare 78 rpm records: Turn Me Loose and Unheard Ofs and Forgotten Abouts).

Fairfield’s blue series “Duncan & Brady” features a broken take on an oft interpreted murder ballad that puts you right in the middle of the saloon where death came-a-knocking as well as a double-fiddled “Devil’s Dream.” The 7” is officially released today (also available now on iTunes), and we do not recommend missing this one…
