Continuing our pattern of making sure Nashvillians of good taste don't get a moment of rest, we are pleased to announce another addition to this month's calendar. Divine Fits is comprised of Britt Daniel (frontman of Spoon) and bandmates Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade), Sam Brown (from Ohio punk legends Gaunt ) and Alex Fischel. Join us Monday night in the Blue Room, doors at 7, show at 8, for the live taping of their performance. We've been trying to get these guys here it seems like from day one of their inception and we're really excited to host them here for this live recording / performance. JOIN US.
We are hungry to test a new method of recording our live shows… direct-to-acetate-meets-breakfast! None other than the pride of Hawaii, surfer/filmmaker/musician Jack Johnson, will be joining us for a very special, family-friendly live show this Saturday morning at 11:30 am. Jack and his beachy tunes have been bringing a piece of the big, blue sea to both grown-ups and not-quites for over a decade, and we have no doubt he will feel right at home doing just that in our big, blue room.
Ticketing will be handled slightly differently for this show. Each purchase includes 1) a PAIR (2) tickets to the performance/taping & 2) a PRE-ORDER of the BLACK & BLUE Split-color vinyl record, which will be recorded direct-to-acetate that morning. Tickets are now available online or in our Nashville storefront.
The Rolling Record Store will be open at TMR headquarters in Nashville next week (10-5 Monday-Saturday, 1-4 Sunday) beginning Monday, June 10th, and lasting through Sunday, the 16th. Stop by on your way to camping out in Manchester for Bonnaroo to get your paws on limited quantities of past White Stripes tour shirts as well as Record Store Day split-color Elephant exclusivesalong with all the usual Rolling Record Store ephemera and good time goodies.
The comedy cat is officially out of the bag that Rory Scovel, one of our favorite stand-up and improv comics around, will be stopping by Third Man Records on June the 22nd to grace us all with his quick wit and and absurdist perspective. Tickets are available now, so mark your calendars and prepare yourselves, mind, body, and soul for the hilarity that will soon ensue… We're on a roll here at Third Man with our live events in the Blue Room lately, and this one promises to be no exception. JOIN US, be a part of the live album we will be recording of his set that night, and RSVP on our Facebook event!
Tickets $15 in advance on our website or in our store / $20 at the door before the show, if available.
SELF-TITLED ALBUM OUT TOMORROW (JUNE 4) ON THIRD MAN RECORDS
DAY OF RELEASE SHOW AT NEW YORK'S BOWERY BALLROOM
Lyrical storyteller and "international Dust Bowl-blues playboy" (RIVERFRONT TIMES) Pokey LaFarge has teamed with RollingStone.com to unveil the video "Central Time," the first single from his self-titled album out June 4 on Third Man Records. Directed by frequent Third Man collaborator Jo McCaughey, with set design and Lomokino photography by Rachel Briggs, the video features whimsical scenes of Pokey and the band playing at St. Louis venue Off Broadway, as well as footage of Pokey and his band members in and around the city. Incorporating digital and Lomokino footage, the "Central Time" video as playful and charming as the song itself.
Pokey's self-titled album was produced by Old Crow Medicine Show frontman Ketch Secor. Pre-order the LP or CD NOW.
Pokey and the band will be on tour throughout the summer, stopping at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City on the album's release date. Be sure not to miss the live show that has critics raving:
"Pokey LaFarge is making your new favorite songs"-- THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST INLANDER
"freewheeling and fancy-free…the sort of feel-good Americana you can’t help but warm to."-- SEATTLE WEEKLY
"sounds as though he gunned the Delorean to 1931, pounding shots of whiskey with Jimmie Rodgers and Milton Brown upon his arrival. "-- WILLAMETTE WEEK
"If you’re looking for a roaring tour through the history of American music, there’s no better guide than Pokey LaFarge."---MXDWN

Tonight, June 1st with Paul Burch in the Blue Room. Doors 7pm, Show 8pm. Will call tickets purchased online can be picked up at the door beginning at 7pm.
To celebrate Pokey LaFarge's record release we will be selling 100 copies of the limited edition version of Pokey LaFarge's Third Man LP before his live show tomorrow at our shop from 5pm. We will also be selling the standard black vinyl LP version and CDs of the record as well. So Pokey fans and supporters can get this release a few days early. Pretty cool!
Also, ticket holders are all eligible for a free screenprint poster for the show. When exiting the performance there will be a table set up on our patio, show them your punched ticket from entry and they will hand you your free poster. Will be available AFTER the show only (this save you all from having to hold a poster throughout a whole live performance).
What else? Well.. Time allowing, Pokey and I will conduct a Q&A via Vault chat. Again this is time allowing, as show days can be a bit hectic for artists... so we will do our best to make it happen. If it goes forward (and we hope it does!) then it will most likely be between 5 and 6pm CT. Subscribe to the Vault Twitter account if you would like to be notified when we enter the chat.
