Directed by our own Brad Holland last Summer, produced by Harry Kagan, assisted by Jamie Goodsell, and featuring a handful of Third Man ladies, Sun Seeker's accompanying video for the single "Georgia Dust" premiered today via Flood Magazine. Flood's Marty Sartini Garner describes the track as "a timeless piece of pop that could’ve come out at just about any time in the last thirty or so years, its good vibes augmented and tweaked toward melancholy by the peal of a pedal steel guitar."
Head to Flood to watch the video now or view below:

Today is a pretty exciting day here at Third Man Records! Not only did we officially release the delightfully creepy music video for the Dead Weather's next single "Impossible Winner," but we also have not one, but TWO new releases out in this big, beautiful world of ours.
The first is a project that has inspired us more than we could have predicted when we signed on to be its label home: Why The Mountains Are Black (Primeval Greek Village Music: 1907-1960). This two disc collection of primal and unhinged Greek village music often sounds more like free jazz or doom folk with its feral and trance-like grooves, and is the result of years of research, fieldwork and collecting by Christopher King-Grammy-winning producer, sound-engineer, curator and writer. Gathered together from his private 78 rpm archive, King has compiled the most mind expanding and libido inducing song and dance music from the rural hinterlands of mainland Greece and its islands. These are unissued songs recorded in Athens, New York, and Chicago in the first part of the 20th century, and the cover art is the work of R. Crumb and Susan Archie. A beautifully thought-provoking if not radical essay on this music by King accompanies the lavish package. Not simply for historians or collectors of long gone sounds, this compilation is intended to push the limits of what we have come to expect of music, its purpose and indeed its origin. You will experience a profound musical transformation immediately upon listening.

Our second release today is the freshest and shiniest nugget of solid gold from Nashville's unlikely chamber-pop upstarts Sun Seeker. Their debut single "Georgia Dust" paints the dreamscape you wish you fell into every night when you close your eyes and leaves you yearning for a full-length LP that does not yet exist. No, for now, you get but two floats down the lazy river of pedal steel stardust and teenage falsetto fantasies. The A-side is the soundtrack to the movie you decided was your favorite before you had seen too many to have a favorite. The B-side "No One Knows" is just another A-side in disguise. Wear this 7" out with us while we wait for more from this band... and catch them on the road in the coming weeks as they travel the Southeast on tour. Order the 7" here.

Arrive early for a pre-show exhibiton on the life and work of Director Lionel Rogosin
In 1959, maverick filmmaker Lionel Rogosin followed his landmark docufiction ON THE BOWERY by covertly filming on the streets of Johannesburg, South Africa under the false pretense that he was making an innocuous musical featuring South African performers. Instead, the film he made was COME BACK, AFRICA - a scathing indictment of the country's harsh apartheid policies. Shot in a lightly scripted, quasi-documentary style, the film follows a young Zulu man as he attempts to navigate an unforgiving bureaucracy to find work to support his estranged family. The resulting film is a neo-realist monument of wrenching humanism, as well as a historically indispensable document of daily life in the black township of Sophiatown - demolished shortly after filming to make way for white-exclusive housing.

Third Man Records has been ramping up our charity efforts in the past few months, and it sure feels good. In an effort to keep up the goodwill throughout the year, we're hereby declaring the last Saturday of each month "Good Neighbor Day" at our Nashville storefront. On this chosen Saturday, we will donate 10% of our in-store sales to a local non-profit in need of support.
Tomorrow, our inaugural Good Neighbor Saturday, 10% of our in-store sales will go to Hearts of Hope benefitting homeless and hurting women of Nashville through programs at the Nashville Rescue Mission.
So, stop on by tomorrow, pick up a record or three, and let's all be good neighbors together. We're open from 10-6pm and would love to see you.
The water crisis in Flint, Michigan hits way too close to home for us here at Third Man Records. To supplement our water collection efforts at our Cass Corridor retail and future pressing plan location, we are now enlisting the help of our friends worldwide (you!) to see to it that the people affected by this crisis are cared for.
While we know many of you are always willing to give out of the kindness of your heart, we figured we'd up the ante a bit and throw a potential prize into the good karma pot. Once all donations have been collected, one good samaritan will be randomly selected to become a Platinum Vault Subscriber for the next 5 years (FIVE YEARS!) on us.* That's TWENTY free Vault packages. Unheard of! You can donate at our dedicated Crowdrise page here and be automatically entered to win: crowdrise.com/thirdmanrecords
100% of donated funds will benefit The United Way of Genesee County's Flint Water Fund which is dedicating to serving the immediate and longterm needs of the community.
Monetary donations will first be used for the purchase of water filters, bottled water, emergency support services and prevention efforts in Flint, Michigan. After the short-term need of Flint residents has been met, any remaining funds will be directed to the Flint Child Health and Development Fund. This fund will provide aid to children and families with interventions that support positive health outcomes.
THANK YOU for helping us improve the current situation in which our neighbors find themselves. Please chip in what you can and spread the word to others with a giving spirit who may be able to help. And, if you're a Detroit local, feel free to swing by our Cass Corridor location with a gallon or case of water by Monday (1/25) to be entered into our Hateful Eight Box Set Giveaway!
*Platinum Vault subscribers receive 4 packages annually containing exclusive vinyl and merchandise, access to exclusive content and our novelties shop, live chats with Jack White, live-streaming of special events, and the opportunity to take advantage of ticket pre-sales.
