Benjamin Booker developed a love for punk music while growing up in Florida, but it wasn't until his post-college move to New Orleans that his unique sound, heavily influenced by the soulful culture of his new home, was fully realized. Fueled by frustration for past injustices and violence, he channeled his energies into his explosive self-titled debut, recorded at The Bomb Shelter here in Nashville, TN. Fresh off the road from a tour opening for Third Man patron saint Jack White, Booker and his band performed a riotous show in the Blue Room (taken over the edge by Booker donning a Third Man shopgirl uniform) to a gleeful crowd last September — and to be honest, we still haven't fully recovered.
