• 2012 nD Festival

Third Man is very proud to participate in this year's nD Festival. nD Festival is a fundraiser that directly supports our local Belcourt Theatre's education and engagement programs, with special events and parties celebrating indie film, fashion and music in Nashville. It's not all wax vinyl and rare records around Third Man, we're all big film fans here. But beyond that, the Belcourt gives so much culturally to our community. We're really lucky to have them here in Nashville, and we want to give back in whatever way we can. We hope you'll join us for one, or all of the events coming up between Sept. 28th - 30th.

Here are the events for nD Fest we'll be directly involved in.

    Sept. 28 10pm - 1am
    Belcourt Biscuit Boogie
This is a late night dance party to cap off the days events at The Belcourt. Dancing on the stage and down the aisles! TMR's Ben Swank will be DJing alongside The Stone Fox's William Tyler. Get some soul!

    Sept. 29 7pm - 9pm
    Found Footage Party
We'll be setting up a screen and providing popcorn in our Blue Room to show some of the best (read: funniest) footage from the World Wide Web.

    Sept. 30 5pm - 9pm
Fashion Show & Auction at The Belcourt Last but by no means least is the fashion show and auction at the Belcourt. There'll be cocktails, supper and a chance to bid on hundred of nD auction items representing the best of indie Nashville. That portion starts at 6. At 7:30pm, nD Fashion hits the Belcourt runway, backed by musicians and a set list hand picked by us here at Third Man Records. The band will be comprised of TMR musicians and friends of ours from around Nashville. This is a going to be a really great event! Hope to see you all there.

This is by no means a comprehensive list of events happening for nD Festival. Please go here for all of the information and tickets. With your purchase of nD tickets, you help make it possible for the Belcourt to provide post-film discussions and Q&As, film symposiums and community collaborations with organizations like the Martha O'Bryan Center and the Oasis Center. Please do join us in supporting The Belcourt and all their many fantastic events.

Lastly, there is a nD Fest Preview Party tonight at Imogene and Willie from 6-8pm. All the information for that is HERE

  • More Rolling Record Store Summer Stops

Our hot rod record shop on wheels, The Rolling Record Store, returned to TMR HQ over the weekend from it's first trip to the West Coast. It was great posting up at Jack White's B Shows and meeting all the fans out there for the first time.

We'll be getting right back on the road and hitting some cool festivals around the country for late Summer and Autumn. First up is a Tennessee tradition, The Muddy Roots Festival. We'll be at Muddy Roots this August 31st and September 1st. Check out their site for location, lineup and ticket info

Sept. 28 and 29th we'll be hitting the Midpoint Music Festival in Cincinnati, OH and from October 16-20th we'll be all over New York City for CMJ Festival. We'll be announcing more information and specific locations about that event real soon.

As always follow the Rolling Record Store on Twitter for all the up to the minute updates!

  • Seasick Steve L.A. Show

Our ol' pal Seasick Steve is playing a rare show here in the good Ol' U.S. of A! He'll be playing at the legendary LA Troubadour on October 8th. You can pick up tickets here.

And if you never have, you definitely should pick up his TMR Blue Series single and his full length on LP or CD we released. They're both pretty excellent if we do say so ourselves. And we do.

  • Jack White B Show Videos

Here's a couple really cool videos of Jack White's B Show at Outside Lands festival in San Francisco over the weekend.

Live in a town where Jack is going on this tour and wondering if there'll be a B Show in your town? Follow us on Twitter where we post details of B Shows about an hour before they happen.

    Enjoy!

  • Tweeting at Jack White Shows...

We here at Third Man would like to clear up a couple of misunderstood notions floating around out there on the internet of late. Regarding Jack White’s live performances; Let us just say that there has never been a sign posted by our touring crew or team at one of Jack's shows telling people to not use Facebook or Twitter during the performance. We really encourage fans to talk about the show however they please, but just ask that they be respectful to the other concert attendees. Third Man uses Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr every day to communicate directly with our fans. All of these are important tools that are great to open up lines of communication for us and for you, the fans. We are not luddites who hate technology.

The only thing that we've ever asked of the audience is to not take pictures or videos while holding up their cameras, phones, etc that block other peoples view or otherwise hinder other fans concert experiences. Along with that, the bigger idea is for people to experience the event with their own eyes and not watch an entire show through a tiny screen in their hand. We have every show photographed professionally and the pictures are available from Jack White’s website shortly after to download for FREE. This way, not only do you get free professional photos of the show you were at, you don’t have to stand there holding something up in the air the entire concert.

We think that is fair and a positive thing for everyone involved and we’ve received tons of compliments and encouragement for this practice. We intend to continue in this fashion for the benefit of all involved.

Now, on a side note, the all male band on Jack White’s tour has never been called ‘Los Buzzardos’ but are called ‘The Buzzards’ (the female group is called ‘The Peacocks’). We think this is a good example that shows nowadays it's very easy for incorrect information to spread around the internet. Be it about banning Twitter at concerts, or the actual name of the band people are watching play on stage.

Thanks to all of the fans for their enormous support, and thanks for letting us clear a couple of these tiny things up.
