Friday September 23rd. Mark it on your calendar now as the day Third Man changed your life. MARK IT!
If you’re a local Nashville “person” you will be well aware that Next Big Nashville will be holding their annual Soundland festival that weekend. We will be participating again this year with a pretty amazing, diverse bill that is simply going to blow minds. Simply.
Headlining our show will be America’s Funny Man himself, the Neil Hamburger. The unchallenged King of Komedy brings his ribald and dare we say ‘bawdy’ act of witticisms, one-liners, and observational humor to the ersatz comedy club stage of Third Man. This soon-to-be-historic set will be committed live to tape and released as a live album most-likely called “How to Embarrass Yourself: Neil Hamburger Live At Third Man Records.” Stoked? You should be.
Before Neil takes the stage we’ll have three of our favorite bands playing live. From Detroit comes Timmy Vulgar fronting his troupe of merry art punks, Human Eye. Human Eye is an anomaly in the current music scene. They defy all description and genres. Easily one of the most original bands happening, they could only be from Detroit. Musically they reflect mid-western proto-punk and overall spaced-out weirdness. Live, there’s nothing else like them and we’ll ALSO be committing this one to tape for a Live at Third Man release. That’s right. Two live albums recorded in one night. And yes, Black & Blue colored vinyl will be available to pre-purchase for those in attendance.
Before Human Eye will be local favorites Pujol and Hans Condor. Pujol you probably already know from his Blue Series single and Live album on TMR. We’re super glad to have him back on our stage. PS: you can pre-order his new EP from Saddle Creek now.
Hans Condor are Nashville’s most feral rock and roll power trio. We have never, NEVER, seen them play a show that didn’t erupt into Pentecostal style rock and roll reverie. Can’t wait to have them in the big blue room. Tearing. Shit. Up.
The frenzy starts at 7pm, tickets are $10 from us and will go on sale Tuesday 10am at our retail shop. Or if you are interested in seeing more shows at Soundland for the weekend you can get a wristband directly from the festival. Lots of great bands playing including Black Belles and JEFF The Brotherhood, check their site for more details: www.nbnsoundland.com.
Entry will be split evenly between Third Man tickets and Soundland Wristbands. Having a Third Man ticket guarantees you entry to our show, a wristband does not as they will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. If and/or when we are at capacity we will act on a one-in/one-out policy.
